Yunoyado Shoei

The new annex of Kyoto ryokan Shoei was completed　for service in June 2009. In this annex, Japanese-style rooms in sizes of 8 or 10 tatami mats are offered. Settle yourself in the tatami room for a time of relaxation and enjoy an experience in the lifestyle of Japan.　Kyoto ryokan Shoei is within a 5-minute walking distance from JR Tambaguchi station, only one station away from JR Kyoto Station. It is adjacent to the Kyoto Central　Wholesale Market where vegetables which are distinctive to Kyoto and its cuisine, and fresh fish are supplied to a number of restaurants in Kyoto.

The bathtub in our large communal bath is made from Japan’s famous Mt. Fuji lava that has been processed into tile-like shapes. Mt. Fuji is known for its beauty but its lava is also rich in substances such as iron oxide, iron (II) oxide, calcium oxide, manganese oxide, zinc and copper and it also emits far- infrared rays. Therefore, taking a bath in our bathtub is equivalent to basking in the sun without the damages of getting sunburned.

The advantages of far-infrared rays are self-evident, for they warm you from the inside as well as sustain it throughout the day. By taking a bath in our Mt. Fuji lava bath invigorates all parts of your body and enhances your health and beauty. It is also known to sterilize and kill germs, as well as to help break down neutral fat, a belief in its effectiveness for those on a diet.

Dinner is served in the restaurant Hanaguruma for your enjoyment.

A wide selection of dishes from obento （boxed meals） to Japanese nabe (stews to be cooked at the table) for banquets and gatherings. Other dishes include “otsukuri” or raw fish and an assortment of a la carte dishes.

交通	By Taxi~ 7 minutes by taxi from Kyoto Station. Please tell the taxi driver “Mibugawa shomen nishi iru Shoei” By Train~ 10 minutes by bus from Kyoto Station. Take the bus at Kyoto Station Karasuma gate bus terminal #205 or #208. Get off at Umekoji koenmae bus stop and go north 100 meters from the stop light. Turn left at a square blue sign on your left that says “Shoei” and proceed west for 50 meters. Turn right at a round blue sign on your right that says “Shoei” and go north. You should come in view of Yunoyado Shoei on your left. By Bus~ Change to Sagano Line (Sagano-san’in Line) at Kyoto Station. Take the “local” train (makes a stop at every station) and get off at Tambaguchi (the next station from Kyoto Station). Turn right after exiting the ticket gate and go east 100 meters on Gojyo-dori. Turn right at the corner of a brick condominium with a post office and proceed 300 meters south. Yunoyado Shoei should be on your right. On foot~ 25-minute walking distance from Kyoto Station. Walk north 200 meters from Kyoto Station Karasuma gate bus terminal. Turn left at Shichijo-dori and proceed west past Horikawa-dori and Omiya-dori. Turn right at Mibugawa-dori and go north 100 meters. Turn left at a square blue sign on your left that says “Shoei” and proceed west for 50 meters. Turn right at a round blue sign on your right that says “Shoei” and go north. You should come in view of Yunoyado Shoei on your left.
